Hi!

Welcome all those who are starting their teaching training this September.

I started this blog, as I felt that there wasn’t that much out there, in terms of genuine support and advice for fellow students. As someone who has recently completed their PGCE and is now a qualified teacher, I thought I would share my advice, experience, planning, assessment ideas, PGCE essays, Masters Level support for your PGCE, job applications and anything else.  I also thought it would be a great way for students to give each other support and advice throughout their difficult year and also their NQT induction year.

I will say now that it is true..the course is hard work, tiring, and nothing like your degree.  Don’t even begin to think you can work part time whilst you study.

My advice (which I wish I had undertaken myself) is to: plan, be organised and be prepared.

Despite all this, the course is extremely fun and, once you get in the classroom, every theory-based article, boring lecture and seminar begins to make sense and it all simply ‘comes together’.  You will hear this being said to you left, right and centre, but you truly will be saying it yourself once everything clicks into place.  Following my PGCE I actually regard Maths as an extremely fun subject: Maths Trails outside, hoola hoops for Venn Diagrams, to relating Maths to cross curricular subjects.  Fantastic.

I hope you find the PGCE support, advice, PGCE essays, suggested websites, PGCE planning and assessment extremely useful.

Enjoy your course!! 🙂
